Last Thursday, bang on National Poetry Day, I received the printed, physical book copies of Meanwhile, my debut poetry collection. Earlier that day, I was doing another poetry-related thing at the Attenborough Arts Centre, so it was a very exciting day.
Tamales? No, books!
It’s very magical to see something that came out of your head incarnated into several dainty rectangular books. A dream come true.
Earlier today, I sent the first bunch of pre-ordered copies to their forever homes: as near as London, Croydon and Essex, as high as Hebden Bridge, and as far as Spain and USA. Wherever you are, if you want a copy you can get one. I’m sending the next lot on Wednesday, so hurry up to get ahead of the queue.
For launch day, Thursday 8th of October, 8pm British Summer Time, I’m taking over the Burning Eye Books IG account and livestreaming a reading and open mic. If you want to share something of your creation, please let me know in advance by replying to this email. You’d have to have an Instagram account of your own (I know I said I wanted out of social media on the previous newsletter, but heck) so I can let you in.
Anyway, stay safe.
